Jessica Gardner is a mother of two, Head of Ceramics and a Professor of Art at Northern Virginia Community College. She obtained her Masters of Fine Arts at Georgia State University, her Post- Baccalaureate certificate at the University of Florida and her Bachelor’s Degree at Alfred University.
Jessica has held exhibitions across the country and was recently the curator and an exhibiting artist in the touring exhibition Crowns. Jessica has also presented lectures such as “Tackling the Hybrid,” a session on teaching art in both the traditional classroom and online, at venues ranging from the National Council for Ceramic Arts (NCECA) conference to the Virginia Community College Association conference.
Jessica’s current work includes slip-cast multiples and re-fired found objects. Her compositions explore motherhood in the modern era and they have been included in publications such as 500 Teapots Volume 2 by Lark Books, Ceramics: Art and Perception and the Both Artist and Mother blog.
Jessica's work can be seen in the permanent collections of the Canton Museum of Art, Canton, OH; Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute Collection, Jingdezhen, China; the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock, AR; and the Porter Price Collection, Columbia, SC.
